Untitled (with art from London)
Untitled (with art from London) explored the cultural identity of Londoners through creating an alternative souvenir stand with community groups, market stall holders, shop owners, residents and others living and working around London's Southbank.
Through participatory workshops people were invited to create their own souvenirs of what being a Londoner means to them, and to share and celebrate local knowledge - things a tourist wouldn't know...
The stall's souvenirs were all for sale, and included: postcards from a disposable camera walk along the Southbank with Hub Art Youth Group; customised felt hats and mugs made with Blackfriars' Settlement; fried chicken seed bombs made with teenagers in a local gardening group; t-shirts where you can wear a local shop owner; umbrella's of alternative skylines of London made with an older people's group and many more!
The piece was exhibited at Chelsea College of Art for the BA Fine Art degree show in 2011.
