COP21: Hope and fear

As part of her MSc Sustainable Development in Practice, Eleanor was one of 5 students from the University of the West of England funded to attend the actions happening around the Conference of the Parties – COP21 – in Paris in December 2015.

‘As I learn more and more about climate change and the urgent issues facing humanity and I want to use my creativity to fight the feeling of helplessness through developing ways to engage people in climate change through participatory art.

At the red line at the Arch de Triumph and down to the Eiffel Tower I began to collect responses from people around their hopes and fears for the future and asking them to write them onto red and blue flags which will be installed at an exhibition at UWE in February. The aim was to begin a conversation to inspire greater collective action. We shall see what happens next…’
