Charting Change

Charting Change is a two year public art programme led by artist Ellie Shipman with Programme Artist Jack Stiling. This commission explores the industrial histories of the site of the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, alongside its technological futures - focusing on how women have shaped this area past and present, and the ritual and play in the construction process itself.

Working with artists, local people, community and industry partners and researchers, Ellie and Jack are creating a series of temporary artworks and engaging events which will inform Ellie’s design of a permanent textile artwork for the Story Exchange, a public circular seating area in the new campus opening in September 2026.

Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus

The University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC) is a major new development in the heart of Bristol. Accessible from a new Eastern entrance to Bristol Temple Meads Station, it will be a welcoming campus surrounded by new public spaces and a restored natural landscape. TQEC will be a place for students, researchers, businesses, organisations and communities to work together on challenges that impact our lives.

This public art programme is supported by the Contemporary Art Society *Consultancy.
